Some people say that after 25 years we are old fashioned… some say we are old school. Most people just say we are OLD. We say retro is in! We say there is no substitute for experience. We teach the fundamentals and they are as old as the game itself. There are no short cuts for gaining mastery over the basics.

We say if that’s wrong, if teaching basic skills and fundamentals, if working hard, learning to respect the game, if learning to do simple things and repeating until they are done perfectly is wrong… Then we don’t want to be right

We have dug deep into our video archives and dusted off some rare footage! Heck these video clips date back from when you and to thread the tape! This is from back in the day when video was cutting edge stuff! Shorts were short, socks were long, Coach Skillings had a ’stash, Coach Jensen wore muscle shirts and Coach Candler was, well… Coach Candler; and we’re not so sure if Coach Riar was born yet, he is truly ageless!

  • Coach Skillings talks way to fast but you have to love the retro mustache and Tim Dancey gets the cost of the camp wrong by 500% he mentioned the kids get 25 hours of instruction for $250.00 which would have been $10/hour. The cost back then was $25.00 for ten hours of instruction or $2.50/hour. Our average per hour instructional fee is still around $5.00/hour some twenty-five years later!

  • Again on this old video from Riverbend Junior High coach Skillings is talkin fast. Listen to what Eli Pasquali has to say about fundaments; they don’t change if you’re playing for Canada’s National team, trying out for the Chicago Bulls (Yes Virginia there were Canucks looking at the NBA before Steve Nash! Interestingly both Pasquali and Nash are linked to Victoria) anyway back to the fundamentals… they are the same even for those kids at the camp as they were for Eli.
